Why do people make fun of my half-black brother?

he's 19 and my parents adopted him when he was 5. he's light brown skinned with blackish-brownish hair. others put him down because he lives with a white family. we don't care. he tells us every day he loves us and we do the same back, but why do people have to be so mean?
